Virginia is drawn to the moors where the land is littered with evidence of past industries like mining and quarrying. Virginia sees the land as an archaeology of past lives and imagines herself walking in the footsteps of people who lived and worked here many centuries ago.

 

She works building the surface of the canvas using mixed media and often raw materials of the land to create an atmospheric 'sense of place'.
